Located with the Akron service unit, the Citadel conducts the worship programs -- Sunday School, Sunday worship, Bible studies, and prayer meetings -- of The Salvation Army for the greater Akron area. The Citadel is where music groups such as the brass band, songsters, timbrels, mime, and drama meet. The Citadel also provides social development programs for the neighborhood and the community, such as:

  • Women's Ministries, a program of service, education fellowship and worship for women of all ages 

  • Men's Fellowship, a similar program for men of all ages 

  • Community Center programming for all ages, which includes games and sports in the gymnasium 

  • Occasional classes and workshops for various ages that relate to life issues, such as parenting, budgeting, and backyard gardening classes

The Salvation Army Service Extension Office of Hudson assists people with financial need. Typically, help is provided for utility bills or shut-off notices. At times, assistance can be provided in the form of a food voucher. Here are the restrictions:

  • Clients can receive assistance once annually. 

  • Clients must reside in the Hudson School District to receive assistance in our office. 

To receive assistance, clients are asked to call our office and leave a message. A volunteer staff member will return the call within 24 hours to pre-screen to determine assistance eligibility. If eligible, an interview will be scheduled in our office.
