You Can Help Warm Hands and Hearts

Through the Salvation Army this Winter

Akron, OH – 11/23/16 – Hugs are good!  So are Hats, Underwear, and Gloves -- especially in our cold Ohio winters.  This Christmas season and throughout the year, The Salvation Army needs your help in gathering these items for needy men and women in our area.  And remember … all donations to The Salvation Army are tax deductible.

This coming year nearly 3,000 men and women will be provided with warm showers at the Salvation Army.  Most will be in need of underwear, hats and gloves as well as outer apparel and toiletries.  Some of the toiletries needed include: soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, disposable razors, shaving cream, combs, wash clothes and towels, as well as women’s feminine products.  Large boxer shorts and one-size white tube socks are also needed.  If you would like to assist with donating some of these items, please bring them to The Salvation Army at 199 S. Maple St, Akron, OH 44302 anytime weekdays between 8am – 4pm.  For additional information, please call 330-762-8481 during business hours.

The Salvation Army also needs many items to provide day-to-day services through its on-going programs serving our community.  Some of them include the following:  Bedding, pots & pans, dishes, crock pots, toasters, cooking utensils, brooms and mops, plastic glasses, mixers, hand-held can openers, and silverware.  Larger appliances such as refrigerator freezers and, gas ranges are also needed as well as Gasoline Gift Cards, cook books for beginners, study bibles and 2 large commercial kilns.

The Salvation Army’s pre-school and after-school programs also have various needs.  If you would like to learn more about those specific needs for children, and will consider providing funding for one of them, please call The Salvation Army at 330-434-7110 and we will be pleased to discuss them with you.
